PEHCHAAN

Drishtikona - Changing Perspectives presents 'PEHCHAAN' Workshop Series

“There goes that Chinky. She must be a prostitute.”
“OMG! How gay!”
“Eww! Ugly, dark skinned woman”

How many times have you heard such statements being casually thrown around in India since your childhood?
How many times have you met people who perpetuate such negative attitudes on a daily basis? How many “well-respected professionals” have you encountered who hold the same biases very strongly while also holding a white-collared job?
What happens when individuals with such mentality become policy makers?
Finally and most importantly, when was the last time you came across a sensitivity and awareness program focused on rampant racism and homophobia in India in schools, traditional colleges or offices?

Drishtikona – Changing Perspectives offers ‘Pehchaan’ - a 7 day workshop and training program countering racism and homophobia in India for all age groups. Through talking, sharing, mutual learning and borrowing from literature on the subject matter we hope to burn the bridges, do away with mental barriers, develop understanding, acceptance and empathy and move towards a unified India.
Let’s get talking!
